Gravel Bike Skills Session & Ride
Thursday May 7 and June 11 - 4:30-7pm
$95
An outdoor playground in the Pacific Northwest
Together with Women Who Explore we are pumped to offer you these gravel experiences! Whether you’re a road rider looking to explore beyond the pavement, a mountain biker curious about gravel, or new to all of it, this lesson will help you build confidence and have more fun on any ride.
They are hosted at Seventh Mountain Resort in Bend, OR! You’ll experience the magic of riding with a supportive community of women, while dialing in essential skills like body positioning, braking, cornering, and navigating changing surfaces. Plus, we’ll cover route planning, safety, and how to make the most of your gravel adventures.
At the end of the skills session we will sample the off-road goodness that Bend has to offer while applying the skills we learned! We will ride a mix of pavement, double track forest service roads, and mellow single track trails on our ride. Whoo hoo!
Bend, OR is an outdoor enthusiast's dream. We love living in Bend for its outdoor pursuits, laid-back vibe, pristine beauty, sun-drenched days and cool nights. The gravel roads and trails are flowy and fun. You can't help but smile on some of the long swooping downhills. The best thing about Bend is the easy access to so many trails nearby, yet you're deep in the woods away from it all. Plus, with around 16 breweries (our favorite is Deschutes Brewery) and a plethora of local coffee goodness, it's easy to wind up or wind down in this outdoor mecca.

This is a “gravel” focused lesson and ride that will mix skills building with a fun ride.
Are you gravel curious? Are you looking to gain more confidence or skills for your next race or adventure? This session is for you!
Our venue has some great skill-building areas to help gain confidence for our afternoon rides. This lesson is great for all levels of riders, especially newer riders because the roads and terrain are fairly mellow (meaning not super steep or technical). There will be an ample amount of pedaling so it is advised to have some base fitness and stamina for the session, keeping in mind the rides are not “hammer-fests” because we stop frequently. This is about the collective group experience and having FUN!

Gravel cycling refers to biking on roads that are primarily made of gravel and are situated off the pavement. In Oregon, several roads were initially constructed for logging and commerce purposes, having a sturdy foundation and a layer of gravel on top. Nowadays, these roads are employed for recreational activities on both public and private lands. Therefore, if you wish to explore more, you may want to give gravel cycling a try.

A moderate level of fitness is required for this camp. You should be able to complete a 15-20 mile gravel ride at a conversational fun pace. Our rides will be 15-30 miles each day depending on the group and conditions. The tone is fun, so the rides will be no drop and are not about hammering, its about having fun with your friends in the woods!
"This weekend was AMAZING! I did things I never thought I would ever even attempt! It was such a safe place to learn, (the coaches are literally there to catch you) it was relaxed, encouraging and so much fun! From beginner to racer there was something for everyone and the team of coaches were humble, funny, encouraging and ripping riders!"
